Abstract:

The Polish Research Team has developed a new alarm system. The STAR and STAR-320 systems provide alarm-broadcast dispatch and telephone communication at industrial plants with explosion-hazardous areas. They are designed to integrate communication between two branch houses of the same plant or operate within the reach of one plant. The researchers looking for partners for co-operation.

Description:

STAR and STAR-320 systems are designed to create alarm-broadcast, dispatch and telephone communication in methane mines, coking, chemical and petrochemical plants and others with high degree of explosion hazard. These systems can be used in high noise, humidity and dustiness level areas. Aforesaid systems combine telephone functions in subscriber and dispatcher network (in cooperation with telephone exchange) and special alarm-broadcast functions ensuring loud-speaking simplex communication between dispatcher and ZITG or ZITP signal phones. The systems also allow quick transmission between the different information about appeared danger, between workers and a dispatcher as well as dispatching conventional evacuation signals and verbal messages. A basic version of the STAR system with capacity of 16 to 160NN (optionally up to 192NN) can be used in small mines. The STAR-320 version is designed to work in large centralised mines requiring capacity of 320NN (optional up to 384NN) and also in the dispersed-structure mines in a distance, which does not exceed transmission capabilities of used telecommunication medium and transmission devices( HDSL modems and copper wire - up to 5 km ,OLT modems and fibre-optical cable - up to 30 km). The STAR and STAR-320 perform the following functions: establishing connections and making phone calls in automatic and half-automatic modes of the integrated and intrinsically-safe signalling phone ZITG (ZITP) subscribers using telephone exchange of any type,- direct loud-speaking connection (simplex) of dispatcher and subscribers in individual or group mode, - dispatcher netting call in alarm mode by ZITG (ZITP) subscribers without necessity of hook-on, - dispatcher netting call in normal mode by ZITG (ZITP) subscribers without necessity of hook-on, - automatic connection with telephone exchange or dispatcher in case of exceeding established time of dialling a number, - broadcasting of alarm messages,- listening from surroundings of ZITG (ZITP), - automatic digital registration using SU-STAR maintenance stand and dispatcher computer control desk PDK-STAR of alarm mode phone calls and normal mode phone calls (on dispatcher request),- optical signaling of: incoming call, message dispatch, evacuation signals broadcast and dispatcher calling by ZITG (ZITP) subscribers,- automatic phone calls with pulse modulation (PM) or dual tone multi-frequency DTMF dialing, - phone calls in loud-speaking duplex mode,- system initialisation, setting the priorities, archiving alarm calls and emergency states at maintenance stand, report printing, Options include up to 8 (16) phonecalls of ZITG (ZITP) subscribers through the medium of dispatcher control desk PD-STAR-320 (PDK-STAR),- operation with process visualisation system realised on dynamic synoptic panels (large-format monitors or projectors), - creation of (up to 64) freely programmable calling groups available at 8 levels, - operation with local loud-speaking communication devices, - bidirectional transmission of up to 256 bi-state signals along the 64 subscribers lines with use of signalling phones versions ZITG (ZITP) with numbers started from T.

Innovative Aspects:
- use of PC computers and redundant industrial controllers ensure high reliability of the system
- remote power supply of all underground devices
- automatic monitoring of transmission lines

Main Advantages:
- intrinsically-safe design of underground devices allows to use them in methane mines and other explosion hazardous zones,- capability to operate at the places of high level of noise, humidity and dustiness, - integration of telephone and dispatch communication, - dispatch communication between branch houses of an industrial plant,
