Abstract:

Polish company has developed a device that allows to reduce the cost of the energy in lighting systems employing incandescent lamps. Advantages over known solutions include a significant reduction of lamp power consumption (energy cost), easy re-programming that meets individual needs of the ?in-place? installation, and a low-cost manufacture. The company is looking for industrial partners interested in promotion, funding of manufacture, and further development.

Description:

Energy-saving Light Controller (the family of devices referred to as LC-1.10) is a multi-functional device developed by a Polish company, and based on the large-scale integration circuit that works as a programmable device designed for an automatic controlling of the lighting based on the incandescent lamps, the power of which does not exceed 500-1000W. LC-1.10 offers the intelligent light controlling and allows decreasing the consumption of the energy in internal or external lighting systems. It also makes controller installation ?smart? and more comfortable in use. The main task of the device is to adjust the appropriate lighting level in a working area. More important than the lighting level is the time during which illumination is working with maximum power. The innovation of LC-1.10 is its ability to match and adjust two working parameters intelligently: the time and lux-level of the light, which allows to achieve the basic aim of energy saving. Additionally, the built-in software allows the slow and gentle change of lighting level, real-time programming of working hours, output power level, the number of brightness levels, and many more. . The most advanced models are PC-programmable ?on-the-fly? while they are running and support more than one source of light that can be individually controlled. The main functional blocks of LC-1.10 are: a low-voltage internal power supplier, central controlling unit, output power circuit, and output interference eliminator/filter. LC-1.10 provides the input circuit that allows users to connect to sensors or interface to an external system initiating the Light Controller and the output circuit consisting of components that secure the device's power circuit and lighting installation.

Innovative Aspects:
The functionality of the device can be freely changed in accordance with customer needs. It can work in application-specific solutions meeting individual requirements for a working environment. Users can specify all working parameters (current, power, energy cost, working time) or events that control a working mode of the device. Users also can extend their security systems.
The device is low-cost and simple in its construction. Its cost is approximately 3,5 times lower than similar known available solutions.

Main Advantages:
Energy cost savings: typically 50-60% (or more than 80% in application-specific solutions)
Current reduction: up to 70%
Power reduction: x6
Change of lighting level
Real-time programming of:
- working hours,
- output power level,
- number of brightness levels
Possibility to work with internal security systems
