| Abstract:
A Polish company has developed a new system that allows dropping
a specially equipped capsule down a shaft. The capsule is equipped
with a remotely controlled high-end camera, an illumination system
and a set of sensors for measuring atmospheric parameters in the
shaft. High-quality video signal from the camera is transmitted to
the surface using radio transmission. There it is displayed and
recorded. The company is looking for partners for co-operation.

| Description:
Automatic shaft revision system SARSz-1 allows precise remotely
controlled observation of the inside of shafts using a high-end
camera and on-line monitoring of the shaft's atmospheric parameters.
The system consists of two parts: - A capsule dropped into the
shaft - containing a video camera with spotlight system, measuring
equipment and autonomous battery power supply - A surface stand,
which enables remote control of the capsule, observation and storage
of video image and measurement data received from the capsule. The
capsule is hooked to the wire rope wound on the reel, which is part
of a lift mechanism. The movements of the reel assure vertical move
of the capsule. The lift and surface stand are fastened to the car
platform. The capsule performs the following functions: -
High-detail observation of different shafts' inside areas, -
“Intelligent” spotlight control enabling very good illumination and
power saving, - Intrinsically safe data transmission (camera
control and measurement data), - Wireless visual signal
transmission, - Independent battery power supply assuring long
operation time. The surface stand allows: - Observation and
registration of the received video signal of the shaft's inside,
- Smooth and precision control of the camera (panning, tilt,
zoom, iris), - Visualisation and storage of all the measurement
data received from the capsule
Innovative Aspects: - Use
of high-end camera allows very accurate 3D positioning (panning: 0
to 3600 horizontal field of vision, tilt: 0º to -90º vertical field
of vision and 18x optical zoom plus 12x digital zoom). -
Efficient illumination system. - Ultrasonic distance detector
securing the capsule from sinking.
Main Advantages: -
The system eliminates the old dangerous revision method (manned
cages). - Measurement devices built in the capsule can measure
levels of: CH4, CO, O2, CO2, H2S, SO2 as well as temperature and
humidity of the shaft's atmosphere. - Recorded video evidence
allows estimating shaft's erosion progress. - The system is very
mobile. - Transport and prepare-to-operation time is very short.
- The system is EEx (European Energy Exchange) certified.
