Abstract:

A Polish research group has developed a new tool for the mining industry. The RODOS ash monitor is an advanced, fully safe system designed for on-line measurement of ash content in raw coal, dressed coal, brown coal, lignites and tailings, transported by a belt conveyor of any width. RODOS operates with microprocessor belt scales of the MWT (Polish acronym for microchip tensometry scale) scale type for mass measurement. They are looking for partners interested in co-operation.

Description:

A Polish research group has developed the RODOS ash monitor, an advanced, fully safe system designed for on-line measurement of ash content in all types of coal transported by a belt conveyor of any width. The RODOS ash monitor is the first device in Poland designed to control hard coal quality and quantity on the surface and in mines underground. The tests performed on this device have confirmed possibilities of using it for brown coal and for Greece lignites. The RODOS construction provides transmission of measurements for a distance of about 10 km and visualisation on the monitors and display units as well as operation in network.

Innovative Aspects:
- A measuring method based on correlation between ash content in coal and its natural gamma radioactivity (working without isotope) is used in the RODOS ash monitor.
- Measurement of ash content and mass of coal transported by the belt conveyor.
