| Description:
Polish engineering company existing since 1989, specialised in production of ecological and energy-saving building materials, has developed technology for acoustic baffles construction.
One of the most popular materials for acoustic baffles construction in Europe is sawdust concrete. This material is made of scraps of mineralised wood mixed with Portland cement. Sawdust concrete is a much appreciated material because of its low energy demands, good acoustical, thermal, durability (protected against biological corrosion), esthetical, and ecological attributes. The offer concerns a series of elements for acoustic baffles design and construction, developed for different investors and different conditions.
Shape of sound absorbing sawdust concrete slabs as well as air spaces (grooves) inside of them provide a high sound absorption coefficient in a narrow frequency band, overlapping the band of traffic noise. Results of executed measurements locate this technology in the group of the most efficient noise reduction solutions (noise attenuation efficiency 14 dB).
The solution gives the unlimited possibilities of shape and dimensions design and colour selection. Some surface types give the protection against graffiti makers, other types can be utilised by rambling plants. Surfaces of sawdust concrete hollow bricks have outstanding adhesion which guarantees a successful coating with various paints and varnishes (e.g. by spraying), or other finishing materials. They can be washed with fresh water.
There are six types of acoustic baffles. Usually they are built from universal hollow bricks on concrete or reinforced concrete foundation (according to calculation) covered with horizontal insulation. Building of a load-bearing wall consist of positioning of universal hollow bricks one on the other without mortar. Holes of the hollow bricks are then filled with the concrete. Depending on the height of the wall and its required carrying ability either vertical or horizontal reinforcement is used. After building the whole baffle screen, its surface is painted twice with a paint gun (polymer-mineral paint) according to the graphical design.
Technology of sawdust concrete is energy-saving one because it doesn’t use high temperatures, it utilises organic waste like sawdust, and it is fully recyclable.
Sawdust concrete has 30 years durability guarantee. The technology has several certificates on Polish market; it is approved by Polish, German, Austrian and Switzerland co-operators.
Simple yet durable construction and quick assembling of baffle screens, competitive price, vitality, and elimination of costly and troublesome continuous maintenance of metal elements, and above all outstanding acoustic and visual assets place these baffle screens on the top among other technologies.
Innovative Aspects:
1) Some baffle screens types are assembled using vertical and horizontal locks, without using glue or mortar, so they can be both assembled and disassembled in the course of winter period
2) Acoustic parameters:
- Acoustic insulation = 50 dB
- Acoustic efficiency = 11 ÷ 14 dB
Main Advantages:
1) Simple and easy to assemble construction (which influences assembly speed)
2) Since small-dimension hollow bricks are used (the heaviest one weighs about 32kg), assembling is manual, without necessity to use crane devices
3) Since construction poles as well as I-bars and closed steel profiles are encased in hollow bricks, they do not require maintenance during exploitation
4) Acoustic baffle screens are painted after building. Their esthetics allow for harmonious incorporation into surrounding landscape
5) Depending on user opinions on baffle esthetics, back wall of the screen (facing houses and housing estates) can be painted according to the same colour styles
6) In order to make screens more attractive visually on both sides climbing plants can be planted – to cover the whole surfaces
7) Expected lifetime of baffles is estimated for 50 years minimum and durability of polymer-mineral coat – for 25 years minimum (as guaranteed by paint producer)
8) Screens built in the above described technology are easy to keep clean because they can be washed with water

Comments
Company is interested in gaining the partner, who will buy the technology, adapt it and start the production on its own area; company can also invest some financial sources to help the partner to adapt the technology.
Partner should have some experience in building industry.
