The mission of the Regional Contact Points is to increase the participation of accession countries and new member states in the 6th Framework Programme

The web page informs about the project REGinNET:

Regional approach towards FP6. Network of contact points in large Accession Candidate Countries, New Member States and Old Member States.
REGinNET is a Specific Support Action (SSA) financed by the European Commission under the Sixth Framework Program. There are 19 partners participating in the project - 13 Regional Contact Points from Accession Candidate Countries and New Member States and 6 experienced National Contact Points and advisory organisations from EU Member States.

The Project focus on improvement of the competencies of the organisations being contact points on regional level by networking and training with assistance of experienced organizations from European Union, setting individual contacts by means of fellowships and organising information days and brokerage events.

Contact points were established to:

Inform and advice on the framework programs of European Union
Organize trainings and information meetings
Search for partners to international collaboration
